Based out of Maryland, Hawk Institute for Space Sciences, or HISS, provides aerospace engineering & value-added, integrated aerospace solutions through "focused diversification." Hawk has a diverse customer base (federal, state, and local government, nonprofits, private industry) that they cater to, and a wide range of engineering services available.

Strategy & Scope

With a specialty in the Space Sciences, it was no surprise to The Design Group that the HISS design was going to be one of our favorite projects. The potential struggle, however, was integrating the company's space specialties with a corporate appeal. Our methodology entailed a prominent use of white space, a minimalist color scheme, and a photograph based layout.

Due to the shutting down of NASA's constellation program this past year, an influx of expert engineers will be left jobless. To capitalize on this, HISS wanted to emphasize the numerous career options available throughout the company, and attract potential applicants and employees. Thus one of the primary features on the Hawk Website, is its extensive 'Careers' module, featuring online profiles, forms and more for interested applicants.
