Formed in 1670, the SC Army National Guard has participated in every major war and conflict from the American Revolution through Operation Iraqi Freedom. Since the South Carolina Air National Guard was formed in December 1946, they have been awarded the presidential "Outstanding Unit Award" four times for superior performance. So when the South Carolina National Guard came to TDG for help with their web presence, SCGuard.com, you can imagine that we quickly realized we had a lot to live up to!
Strategy & Scope
Bettering the SCNG website from its original version was not difficult, however TDG's primary project goal quickly became clear: developing method out of madness. Like many government agencies, the South Carolina Guard maintains a wide spectrum of responsibilities. With well over fifty pages on the site, and three tiers of navigation, it was clear that the success of the project would be determined by the project planning. Advanced sitemapping diagrams were composed by TDG, along with highly detailed wireframe layouts for each page on the site. Hand in Hand with the Public Affairs office, an integrated project vision was developed.
Once the planning phase was finalized, TDG compiled all the research to develop a mock-up design featuring tasteful, subtly patriotic color scheme, featuring the bold, beautiful photographs provided by the PAO, and periodically incorporating elements such as the South Carolina flag throughout.
